Foothills Chapter Banner History

By Donna C.

In 2003, discussion led to the need for a new banner for Foothills Chapter. It was suggested to make one small enough to take to Rocky Mountain Region meetings and local events.

Foothills original Banner was a large hoop with our name embroidered on a fabric in a hoop.  The second was a rectangular banner designed and made by Sharon Dakota Rogers with our name, hills and footprints. She designed a matching name tag. This banner was also too large to take on out of town trips.

Our latest banner with mountains, trees, leaves and a path, was designed by Helen B. She was inspired by a quilted wall hanging she made. Helen and Karen K. drew the full sized design. The leaves were traced individually to be cut out as patterns for members to stitch. Nancy M. assisted Donna C. in choosing the linen colors, threads and stitches on each leaf.

Lu L., Nancy M., Marcia G., Ann P., Marilyn T., Joan C., and Dakota R. stitched the Foothills name and EGA logo that was designed and charted by Lois Kershner. Helen pieced the banner, Karen did the applique work and they finished with the embroidery on the trees and mountains.

Our beautiful banner was completed in time to display at the 2004 Rocky Mountain Region Seminar. Foothills Chapter sponsored the seminar "Friendship and Fanciwork", at the Doubletree Inn, in Aurora, CO, July 7th through the 10th, 2004.

In 2006, Janice W. designed our new name tag to reflect the new banner.
